Luang Prabang, formerly the capital of the kingdom of Laos, is now a small peaceful town magnificently located on the banks of the Mekong River and surrounded by lush green hills. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is an outstanding example of the fusion of Lao temples and traditional architecture with French colonial buildings and villas.
I will add up that you can easily get about by foot or bike, and that the climate is relatively mild.
From Luang Prabang, we shall have a getaway to the beautiful village of Nong Khiaw, located in the North East of Laos in an exceptional site, on the banks of a river connected to the Mekong.
Dates
From the 9th ( 1st day of the workshop) to the 18th of February 2027 ( back to Luang Prabang and end of the workshop in the evening). Our winter, from November to March, is the most favorable time to visit Laos.
Program
Each day, we shall head off to a painting location by foot. You can choose to paint or make travel sketches. The painting session will last about 3 hours until lunch and the rest of the afternoon is left for leisure.
Then we shall resume at the end of the day, to enjoy the sunset over the Mekong River: enchanting!
I have planned: 6 nights in Luang Prabang, 3 nights in Nong Khiaw, and 1 night on the way back to Luang Prabang. You can arrive 2 days before and add a few days after the course, to total around 15 days in Laos.
Price
€ 690 for the workshop. This price includes organisation, tuition and general costs of the studio. Transportation, accommodation and any specific insurance for the workshop are not included. Reservation fees : € 300 (non refundable 30 days before the workshop) . I recommend that you book your transport and accommodation well in advance.
Access and Accommodation
There are direct flights to Luang Prabang (with connections in Vietnam, China, etc.) or to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, from where you can reach Luang Prabang by fast train or mini-van.
