Travel sketchbook in Tangier, from Monday 19 to Saturday 24th of August, 2024

 

The location :

Tangier is located on the northern tip of Morocco, where the Mediterranean sea meets the Atlantic ocean. The site is superb, overlooking the sea and the bay of Tangier. The city is still genuine and full of poetry. You will feel the history of the city in the architecture and the various districts : a beautiful Arab medina, colonial districts 1900-1930, Spanish and French influences, superb Art Deco buildings or villas, more modern areas, colorful markets full of fruits or spices. I prepared the workshop by selecting sites in Tangier itself, but also in the surrounding areas : beautiful forest or small town by the sea... In August, the temperatures in Tangier should be pleasant. The ocean breeze helps to keep it cooler than other Moroccan cities.

The dates :

from Monday 19 to Saturday 24th of August included.

The program :

We shall sketch or paint on location. I will suggest viewpoints that we shall reach by foot or shared taxi (taxis are un-expensive). All levels and techniques are accepted. The tuition consists of group demonstrations as well as individual help. We shall paint every morning from 9:30 a.m. until lunch, around 1:00 p.m. The painting session can be postponed, if it is necessary to reach the location by taxi. Outside of the painting time, you are free to continue sketching, rest, or explore the city...

Prices and conditions:

€ 410 for the workshop. This price includes organization, tuition, general costs of the studio. It does not include transport and accommodation or any specific insurance for the workshop. Reservation deposit: € 190 (non-refundable after July 15th).

By plane Paris-Tangier.

Accommodation :

We shall find our accommodations in the medina of Tangier or nearby. I will give you tips for that.
